I have updated more information on Let’s Care and Celebrate! campaign page – https://glitzy.wordpress.com/care. Do check it out!

When I met with the manager of Star Shelter to understand the charity better, one suggestion that came out of the meeting was to interact with the beneficiaries through workshops or support group. A makeup workshop would be apt because I was advised that the ladies could learn how to better present themselves, not just for day-to-day activities, but also for job interviews.

And I figured that since this is blog campaign, I should involve more bloggers in the project! So I invited Wiwit, who is a popular makeup blogger and a professional makeup artist to impart some tips to the ladies from the Shelter. I was really overjoyed when she readily agreed!

I had to remove my makeup because I was Wiwit’s model for the day!

In order to protect the identities of the residents and beneficiaries, we were warned not to take or show any photos of the participants of the workshop. This is the reason why you will only be seeing photos of Wiwit and me in this entire entry.

The 11 participants at the workshop each received a goodie bag with 8 items from Silkygirl. The reason why I approached Silkygirl was because they are easily available islandwide and are very affordable. This is certainly a good brand to introduce some of the ladies to the world of makeup. Once again, I really appreciate Silkygirl for their kind sponsorship and being so understanding towards everything.

Wiwit started off with the Day makeup, where she used earthy tones on the right side of my face. She advised that we refrain from using shimmery eyeshadow for the day as it would look very oily and messy.I love the nude lippy for the Day makeup! For Night makeup, she did smoky eyes.

The participants were given time to do some hands-on with the items they received from the goodie bag. Wiwit provided one-on-one advice as they were working on their makeup.

The outcome – a Day cum Night makeup. I can’t go out like this! I love the pink lip colour – which is Silkygirl Moisture Rich Lip Colour (06 Gorgeous).

This was my first time interacting with the residents and the first-hand experience gave me a way better understanding of the cause – although I had spoken to the charity and read up on it prior to the workshop. I noticed that majority of the participants were reserved and shy, although most of them seemed relatively interested in the workshop. It wasn’t easy to get them to warm-up with us – which reminded me the importance of the counseling and rebuilding programmes that Star Shelter offers to the ladies.

Domestic violence is a traumatic experience.  And according to global studies, up to six out of every ten women experience physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime. On this note, I think we should really spare some care and concern to our friends so that they will have someone to confide with should they meet with such situations.

Last but not least, a big THANK-YOU to Wiwit and Miss Jazzy for helping out in this workshop. I definitely couldn’t have pulled this off without them!
