Yes, my 2-week Italian fantasy has ended and it’s now back to the grind, back to face the music, but feeling more rejuvenated and grateful for everything I have experienced.

I am trying to get back to the working mode and sorting out my emails, pictures and more than 1000+ posts on Google reader. I promise to blog about some of the interesting places that I have stayed at and places that I really enjoyed during my trip.. soon!

Meanwhile, here are some of my snapshots and outfits in Italy:

Blue and Black

My friend told me that Blue and Black fabric dyes are the earliest and cheapest dyes.

So technically, all blue and black clothes should be priced lower than other colours.

Blue sheath dress: H&M| Floral necklace: Accessorize| Black pumps: Online (can’t remember the brand)| Hobo: Coach

That factoid didn’t stop me from wearing blue and black. I would include a pair of sheer black leggings if I were out for a party.

Work, Play and Party in the Nude Tiered Skirt

I believe in good faith that all of us always make an attempt to rationalise our buys. Would this piece last me for a reasonable period of time? Is the quality good? Am I able to wear it for different functions?

I picked this nude tiered skirt with sequinned bow embellishment by Anderson and Lauth and will try to work them for work, casual and evening events in this post.

Nude colour is currently in trend – check.

Skirt is of acceptable length, good for work – check.

Skirt looks comfortable and easy to move around – check.

Sequinned details is glamorous enough for night outs – check.

Looking sharp enough for the office with a smart jacket.

Pair with a casual tee and some big accessories and you are ready to head downtown for shopping and hi-tea.

Although it’s always safe to wear a dress for a glitzy night event, I think you can look glamorous in separates too. Match a dressy top with the skirt, together with some bling and accessories and you are ready to grab all attention!

I hear ye, seems like quite a number of you are not keen on revealing your socks in sunny Singapore.

You guys should know well that I am hardly an adventurous dresser. Sometimes I wish I know how to layer or mix and match a bit better. Then again, I mustered my courage and decided to wear my socks out on Saturday.

Floral shirt dress: H&M| Chain bag: H&M| Dark gray socks: Japan| Oxfords: ASOS

I think I ended up looking a bit Jappy. Haha.

My friend, sgprincess, decided to flaunt her latest buy – a Skin Couture striped tank that she bid from the Give a Gift Charity Auction.

Top: Skin Couture| White tube dress: Chaos| Shoes: S$19.90 from a random shop at Far East Plaza that was closing down

And a mental note to self, I need to take more pictures of my daily work outfit!

Stripey Saturdays

I realised I have been quite into stripes unknowingly and the stripes have made their way into my regular Saturday outfits.

I love this photo of me with 4 other bloggers. We were at New Majestic Hotel for a Kiehl’s brunch event.

I was wearing my F21 stripey cardigan over a VS black dress. Matched this get-up with my trusty ASOS cut-out oxfords.

The only photo that shows the outfit in totality is the funny photo on the left. Taken by one of the Kiehl’s boys.

I was at Arteastiq on another Saturday and opted for the green+blue casuals. My scoop-neck top was a cheap buy from Old Navy and linen shorts was from ASOS. In terms of accessories, I chose the Diva enamel bird necklace and my old Gola sneakers.

I will blog about Arteastiq soon. Meanwhile, here’s another poseur shot of me, pretending to read. Reading seems like an erstwhile hobby to me.

What I wore to some events recently.

With Dottie at Kiehl’s Private Tour. Both of us are in ruffles!

I think I was attempting a sweet look. I would have gone with white pumps for this outfit but it was raining in the morning and I didn’t want to dirty my white shoes, so I opted for dark blue heels. Admittedly, the blue heels were not the best match for this outfit.

Ruffled crop cardigan: Victoria’s Secret | Striped skirt: Raoul | Pearls: Diva |
Midnight blue heels: Nine West

With sexy Wiwit at the makeup workshop I organised for SCWO – Star Shelter, as part of my Let’s Care and Celebrate! campaign.

I think I was wearing a dress which was too indecent to be a one-piece on me. Love the cute details at the shoulders!

Striped tunic: Dorothy Perkins | Black skinny jeans: ASOS | Necklace: Forever 21 |
Flats: Mossimo

Reinvented Cheongsam inspired by Tong Tong

The Cheongsam (Qipao) is a traditional body-hugging one-piece dress worn by Chinese women. The typical cheongsam is characterised as form-fitting, accentuating the womanly figure. The mandarin collar shows off the slim neck, the snug fit at the arms, waist and hip shows off the curves of the women. Not to forget, the slits of the cheongsam expose a woman’s legs indistinctly when she walks.

In today’s not-so-perfect world, I have to credit Tong Tong for introducing the reinvented cheongsam, that makes cheongsam very wearable for all shapes and sizes. With that in mind, I trooped all the way to Shanghai’s Fabric Market (at Lu Jia Bang Lu) and tailor-made a dress like Tong Tong’s.

Dress: Tailor-made in Shanghai| Rose earrings: Shanghai| Bow clutch: ASOS| Patented sandals: Nine West

The fabric is satin with white stitchings. Workmanship was fantastic that I regretted not making more dresses!

I love how this dress is suitable for both work and play. It is comfortable, less restrictive and relevant without losing its traditional touch.

Meet the Cardigans

Yes, Singapore is a tropical country and we enjoy summer all year round. However, usually towards the end of the year, the monsoon season arrives and the weather gets chilly with frequent rain.

This is the time to whip out your cardigans or even your thin trench coats!

(from left) I was wearing my H&M printed dress and F21 long belted cardigan. Cutout oxfords from ASOS, Pleather bag from Esprit and a pair of shades for my then swollen eyelid.

Miss Armotif was wearing a Zara basic white tee with a deconstructed cardigan from Korea.  American Eagles cuffed jeans, Havianas flip-flops and Kathy van zeeland bag.  And check out that cute robot necklace from Taiwan!

This is like a commercial break after all those event posts.

It is cold, wet December and you need a trusty cardigan to keep you warm and cozy. This striped piece from F21 is very versatile. I could already think of a few outfits to match with this.

Striped flare cardigan: Forever 21| Skinny jeans: ASOS| Lace-up sandals: GoJane| Pleather bag: Esprit

I can’t believe we are saying Hi to 2010 soon. I wish I could get a DSLR and roam the world.
