Bathing in Kiehl’s

It’s review time! No, not so much performance appraisal but just a little review of some of the products I received from Kiehl’s. As you can tell, I’m doing a BATHING theme for this review – complete with a rather graphic illustration (above).

1. Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub – Pear Tree Corner ($43)

I selected the Pear Tree Corner scrub for its delicious pear smell. The scrub consists of natural particles that gives you a good sense of exfoliating comfort without being abrasive. The aftermath of a satisfying scrub is the pleasant and refreshing smell of pear, and the smooth and dewy texture of the skin. The scrub contains aloe vera and chamomile, which helps to moisturize the skin.

A large tube of 200ml can last a long time. For $43, it’s quite a reasonable buy!

The Body Scrub also comes in Coriander, Grapefruit and Lavender fragrance.

2. Epidermal Retexturizing Microdermabrasion ($92)

This is a face scrub with a naturally-derived exfoliant – the Micronized Shells (Diatomatious Earth) – that helps to reduce dead cells at the epidermis of the skin. The scrub also promises to minimize pores and reduce fine lines. However, it is advised that you use this scrub only 2-3 times a week.

As the face is very sensitive, the exfoliating particles is very small and rather soothing to the face. I massaged the scrub for about 30-50 seconds before I wash the face. The instant effect? It makes the skin soft and velvety, although there will some very slight redness initially due to the exfoliation.

Typical of Kiehl’s face products, the microdermabrasion scrub is fragrance and acid-free. As such, it is less likely to irritate the skin. While the pore reduction was not significant after 4 usages (2 weeks), I find this an effective yet gentle facial scrub which provides immediate soft and radiant skin after each use.

While price is on the high side, I would recommend this as an investment if you believe in the importance of facial scrubs.

3. Rice & Wheat Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner (Shampoo: $41, Conditioner: $43)

I wanted to do a hair product review to fit the “Bathing” theme and in my stack Kiehl’s samples, I found the Rice & Wheat Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner that I could try. The samples lasted me for about 3 days!

Both the shampoo and conditioner had a pleasant floral scent. The hairwash experience was nice, but not exceptional. While the shampoo and conditioner are supposed to volumise flat and thin hair, I couldn’t notice much difference after 3 washes. Of course, this could be due to the fact that I already had rather thick hair to begin with.

Are there any Kiehl’s products that you would strongly recommend?

Let me know and I will go down to the Kiehl’s store and grab some samples for myself. You can do that too! Then we can all be Kiehl’s samplers and share information with each other! πŸ™‚

    • the free samples at Kiehl’s is true.
I’ll check out Origins.. wanna write on different eye creams. hahaha.

  2. MsGlitzy,

I tried the overnight biological peel sample. Works on my skin. Like an overnight mask to apply on face and it works as a gentle exfoliater. Skin is smoother after washing it off the next morning.

I am also using their rare earth deep pore cleanser mask. Both my friend and I feel that pores were not so obvious after use! And it is at a reasonable price of $45..

    • Hi Crazy Missy,
Yes! I have heard a lot of raves about the overnight biological peel too. It sounded too amazing to me so I opted for the scrub instead. I have the sample, will try soon.
I have the deep pore cleanser mask too! I need to use for a while longer to evaluate if the pore-minimising function works for me. But for such a huge tub, I agree that it is reasonably priced. πŸ™‚
