True Blue Italian at Cugini

Tucked at a quiet corner of Club Street, Cugini is a trattoria, serving Southern Italian goodies. Frankly,  Cugini had me at Hello – with their cheery blue furnishing and the laid-back ambience.

Southern style linguine with clams – $18.90

The linguine looked thicker and oilier than those served at other eateries. Whilst not a pretty first impression, the linguine was quite delicious and springy, and it didn’t felt as greasy as it looked.

Risotto with seafood and mushroom $22.90

The risotto is a gem! First, it was extremely authentic as they used the risotto rice grain, which is larger than usual rice grains. However, the rice was very well cooked so you could feel the texture but it wasn’t hard to swallow. The risotto was creamy, probably due to the butter but it was totally addictive. I could go on and on to clean up the entire plate. The only complaint is the amount of seafood was kinda measly. But this is the best risotto Miss Glitzy has ever tasted in Singapore!

Freshly made Sicilian style lamb ravioli with artichoke cream and butter $22.50

For the record, the green paste is artichoke cream and butter, not wasabi. Mutton lovers will like this dish. I am not much of a fan of mutton (except for those heavily marinated mutton skewers from Beijing) so I personally thought this dish was just so-so, while my friend strongly recommended this!

Nutella & cream pizza $18.90

We ordered the nutella pizza for dessert. It was sinful indulgence but I was reminded once again how simple things can taste so good. The pizza is less crispy than usual thin-crust pizzas. It is more chewy, so be careful if you are wearing white because nutella can create a mess!

Verdict:

Great experience and decent food. Wouldn’t mind making another visit again!
