I have been thinking of changing the blog layout for a while but the inspiration only struck two days ago.

All it took was one recent lomo photo that I shot and voila, a new blue layout ensues.

So the theme is blue, dreamy and free. I have added a couple of old lomo photos in my “About” page to resemble a photo diary. In addition, I’ve added a “Links” page to clean up the side bar.

I’m totally in love with my new layout. I hope you will like it too.

Sharing some of the lomo photos from my latest set:

I use a lomolito – it’s disposable but I just kept reloading it with film. You can check out my lomography set on Flickr.

Make your own Vintage

By now, you should know I’m not as “glitzy” as my name. I am a slacker by default.

One Saturday, I brought my lomolito out for a walk. I was in my favourite denim shorts and Birkenstocks..

The plaid shirt deserves a mention. It is my vintage piece. I bought it as a brand new shirt dress when I was a teenager. More than 10 years later, plaid is back. I altered the dress to a shirt and it still fits like a tee.

In fact, the brand “Fornari” is not even in Singapore anymore.

I will wear my own vintage more often.

holga

Miss Glitzy acquired a Holga GCFN recently and had absolutely no idea how to use it! Shows how low her Lomo-Quotient is. The lomolito that she was used to had been too idiot-proof!

Lomo society calls the Holga the “unassuming analogue junky in the digital world“. Doesn’t that sound uber cute? Simply can’t wait to get all light-leaked and messed up

If you are working at the CBD and feel in need for some quick rest and fresh perspective, head down to the Asian Civilisation Museum to catch “The Unguarded Moment” – a mini exhibition by photographer Steve McCurry. The showcase is not extensive but the pictures are no less impactful and engaging. The human interest photgraphs took Miss Glitzy’s breath away instantly.

Miss Glitzy was so inspired and hereby presents her own (and ordinaire) version of the unguarded moment:

pulauubin

Miss Glitzy and friends were cycling at Pulau Ubin and it started to rain. The group took shelter at a house - the nearest they could find in the island. This is the photo of the owner of the house - a Malay woman. She is probably the last "kampong" generation in this evolving concrete jungle.

Sporty Day at East Coast Park

After all those dinners and Ms, there is a dire need to get some real workout. Miss Glitzy, Chubby and Armotif headed off to ECP for a cycling day with our BFFs!

We decided to try our the Coastal Park Connector – from ECP, the track goes straight to Changi Beach Park (Changi Village) and back. Miss Glitzy tried that before and it took half a day! Here’s a mini map of the Park Connector Network.

The total distance from ECP to Changi Beach Park and back is about 30km. We did half way and decided to head back at Changi Airport. It was pretty fun because the track was easy to ride (not as challenging as those bumpy slopes at Pulau Ubin). We passed by unoccupied beach, undisturbed nature and caught planes took off the runway. If we had ventured further, we would have reached Changi beach and the jetty where visitors take bum boats to Pulau Ubin!

But gosh, the half-route was already quite tiring for the aging Miss Glitzy. Nonetheless, this route is good for large groups and very safe for those who are not so proficient in cycling.

Brought my polaroid camera that was loaded with expired film along:

Feel like we were thrust back to the 50s. Miss Armotif was in her sporty gear complete with tight bicycle shorts. Chubs was the babelicious who was too concerned about uneven tan lines. And Miss Glitzy? The slackeroo who almost fell off the bike when taking the photo of the passing plane.

We rewarded ourselves with ice-cream from New Zealand Natural. Miss Glitzy thinks that completely wasted the work-out. But it was a Saturday with good fun, great sights and fantastic company!
