Because I’m a UOB Lady’s Card holder and because I’m worth it, I was invited to the G2000 Winter Collection showcase at the newly-opened 313@Somerset store.

For the uninitiated, G2000 is an Asian brand famed for their business clothes and work wear. The piecess showcased at their fashion show would not really garner much oohs and ahhs but there were some corporate styles which I thought were good inspirations:

See, office wear can be interesting! I especially love the botton right green outfit. The furry scarf literally brightens up an otherwise very normal work outfit and the scarf looks comfortable for sunny Singapore.

For the men, you can be suave in purple!

Another takeaway from this event is that G2000 has some classic and well-made winter jackets selling at attractive prices. For those who are looking for a jacket for your upcoming winter getaway, you can visit the store at 313@Somerset and get 15% off using the UOB card!

I have uploaded all the styles from the fashion show onto my Facebook, so do take a look – I spent a lot of time editing the photos – and be inspired!

Korean Fashion – Female Celebrities at Sundown Festival Press Conference

Ok, the boys looked spectacular but the girls were ravishing too!

Without further ado, let’s check out..

Park Si Nae

Park Si Nae and Mario. Mario spoke very good English and looked totally different from the bulky hip-hop rocker look in the promotional pictures. Promotional pictures are deceiving.

Park Si Nae is not famous but I identify with her outfit.

Her makeup was au natural, her hair was neatly bunned up and she wore demure diamond studs. That feminine white dress has a lot of interesting texture and I love the see-through sleeves.

Her white pumps had gold details to complete the bling element of her getup.

Unexpected style icon – Noona (Stylist of FT Island)

She sports a trendy assymetrical bob, completed her edgy look with scarf from Alexander McQueen, blazer with exposed zipper, extremely shredded jeans (up to her thigh) and fierce leather wrap peeptoe sandals. And she looked cool with the thunder-bolt earrings!

Brown-Eyed Girls

This girl group had their own brand on Gmarket named “B Girls”.

This is how they looked in their own brand:

This was them at the press conference:

Couldn’t recognise them from the promotional pictures! Narsha (3rd from left) looks really spunky and beautiful! If only I could carry off their short crop like her!

I just love Narsha’s monochrome outfit. She stood out from her group with her short crop and loud prints. Her shiny leather boots upped the oomph and star factor but I’m sure the grey booties which Ga-in (lady in denim vest) was wearing would work as well.

Korean Fashion As Seen At Sundown Festival Press Conference – Boys’ Looks

It is never easy to promote a culture. I see the Sundown Festival – Seoul’d Out event as an ingenious attempt to incorporate traditional Korean culture with contemporary Kpop. While they invited some Korean pop stars to be the crowd pullers, audience got to enjoy cultural fringe acts and be treated with traditional Korean food in the lineup of food stalls reminiscent of Dongdaemun.

I was invited to this event’s press conference and it was quite eye-opener. I will share with you what the Korean celebrities were wearing at the press conference, which was only opened to the media.

As indicated in the title, this post is on the male celebrities outfits.

T Max

This is a popular all-male trio with one member (Kim Joon) being a F4 of the popular “Boys Over Flowers” Korean drama. They were dressed pretty casually but the immaculately styled hairdo make them look every inch like celebrities.

Coherent colour scheme of black, white and gray.

Full length shots of Pak Yun Hwa (left) and Kim Joon (right). Pimping their boots!

Lee Ji Soo

He is not a very famous singer but he looked really different from the promotional pictures. Definitely more manly in this carefully assembled outfit. This casual outfit screams details – the embellishments on the lapels of the jacket, the necklace and the black chain.. and last but not least bling bling Nike high cuts!

FT Island

They are apparently very popular and have loads of fans! Their outfits were also the most interesting!

(Extreme left): Seung Hyun is in this double-breasted blazer and sheen pants. I have seen similar blazer for girls on Gmarket.  I so wanna order one jacket now!

Guys can try out blazer with Dr Martens/high cuts for a smart casual look. Hongki, who has blond hair, was wearing a crop white blazer, layered necklace and shoes with splattered paint patterns.  I think this is a cool outfit for girls too!

Jong Hun (guy on the extreme right), who had windswept hair, was in this very cool combination of animal prints and purple dyes. I will never match 2 clashing prints together but I must say he rocked that look.

Actually, Jong Hun (windswept hair) is wearing navy blue moccasins with purple textured pants!

Verdict

I’m really impressed with Jong Hun’s ensemble, although my personal favourites are Lee Ji Soo and Seung Hyun (FT Island).

Thanks Lynette of Kokokoreano for donating some pictures to me. It was tough to pit against everyone’s huge cameras. For more pictures of the event, please refer to my Facebook.

And of course, thanks Adlena of Touchcomm for inviting me to this event! It was an interesting experience!

More to come on the Girls’ Looks.

How to wear the Rodebjer Bolero

December 12, 2009 at 10:51 am | In Miss G: Fashion | 3 Comments
Tags: , ,

Netted bolero, Gold, BlackWould you buy a bolero that looks this?

The Rodebjer Bolero, which is in a mixed shade of black and gold, is reminiscent of those plastic basket and may not be a love at first sight.

But it is actually a rather unique piece and can easily jazz up your outfit for any occasion.

Miss Glitzy came up with 3 looks for this bolero.

1. Boogie the Night Away

Neutralise the wet glam look from the sequins and shiny bolero with gentle frills in nude shade. Dance and party without any inhibitions because this outfit allows you to be comfortable and at ease all night long.

2. Corporate Lady

The bolero also adds some oomph to your work outfit. Stay classy and fashionable while running the rat race!

3. Not-so-outright Sexy

Experiment wearing the bolero over a collared vest. So it’s a bit low-cut, but with the pile-load of necklaces helps to partially conceal some cleavage. Ruffled mini skirt and high pink laced heels ooze some sexiness. The perfect combination of fierce and sex appeal, without trying too hard (I hope!).

Rodarte for Target

It’s all about lace, leopard and rib cage this Christmas as 55 new pieces designed by Rodarte will be launched at Target stores/online on 20 December!

The official photos are not out yet but sneak peeks of the collection appeared on Twitter, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire and Vogue!

The collection seems to focus a lot on texture – with lace, fur and sequins. This Target collection also looks more conventional than the usual Rodarte offerings.

The feature on Vogue December:

Lace Dress: US$40

Mustard cardigan: US$24.99 | Tulle skirt: US$29.99 (not sure)

The bow lace dress looks stunning in Nude shade!
Halter Bow-tie Dress: US$45

Braided Denim Jacket: US$44.99
Blue Swiss Dot lace dress: US$40 (my fave!), Leopard bow belt: US$13
Cardigan and Printed Dress: US$24.99 and US$34.99 respectively

Dakota Fanning also joined in the fun with a Leopard Lace Dress from Rodarte for Target – US$45. Apparently, there are bows at the back of this dress!

[Edited: The official Look Book for this collection is finally out. Please go to my Facebook album to view these 9 pictures.]

Target is going fast and furious with designer collaborations. After Rodarte, there’s Eugenia Kim for a hat collection and Cynthia Vincent for shoes! Both collections will be launched in Spring 2010.

H&M has released their Spring 2010 look book and while the ladies collection remained trendy and fashionable, the men’s collection looked really amazing! Printed silk scarf, structured blazers with piping, brighter colours and clever details..

And to push the envelope further, there’s a skirt and harem pants for the men!

Do you think the guys will be able to rock the pleated skirt and harem pants?

The Little Black Party Dress

November 24, 2009 at 12:00 am | In Miss G: Fashion, Miss G: Shopping | 2 Comments

With the festive season approaching, it’s time to look for the party dress!

There is a school of thought that preaches that “black is boring”. But black is versatile, universal and suitable for all events. If you find a great black dress, you can wear it to a party, a formal ball, a black-tie event .. you get the gist.

And Miss Glitzy would seriously wanna rock a LBPD (Little Black Party Dress) like how Dakota Fanning did in her Valentino:

I have consolidated my Glitz Wish List for the LBPDs!

Let the Ruffles do the Talking

(left) 1. Yoana Baraschi Blow-Up Dress (US$355.00) – For the breezy, relaxed and effortless chic look.
(right) 2. Diane von Furstenberg Pivette Wrap Dress in Black (US$495) – My favourite designer! The individual pleats look very structured but this is toned down with the use of draped polyester and the colour black.

For the Vintage

3. Ossie Clark Cosmic silk-georgette dress (£227.96) – Stand out from the sea of halternecks and tube dresses with a gentle silk vintage-inspired piece. The Ossie Clark dress has a playful deep V-neck which leaves some room for erm.. imagination!

Go Avante-Garde

4. Tsumori Chisato Dress in Black/Cream (US$1,101) – Totally in love with this look! A little don’t-carish attitude and a dash of adventure are all you need for a great party!

The Old School

5. BCBGMAXAZRIA Lace & Organza Party Dress(S$675.35) – It perfectly fine to be traditional and stay with the essentials of a party dress – the silk, the lace and the organza. The BCBG dress added a playful touch with the tiers and the short flirty dress length!

What’s your size?

November 20, 2009 at 11:38 pm | In Miss G: Fashion | 2 Comments
Tags: ,

Hi! I’m Miss Glitzy. I’m about 5 feet 9 and I wear UK size 10-14.

If you’ve seen my pictures, you’ll know that i’m not fat although under Mark Fast’s definition, I am considered “plus size”. Apparently in Korea, I’m a “plus size” too because I can’t wear anything that is tagged “free size”, 66 (M) or sometimes even 77 (L) there.

Don’t worry, this is not going to be an entry about how people shouldn’t judge by dress sizes. I’m big but I feel comfortable and I think I do look decent in my clothes. I hardly consider dieting or counting calories as an option because I’m just right for my height.

However, I notice that the avalanche of local blogshops do not seem to stock sizes beyond UK size 10 (or M). When I spot something on a blogshop that looks good, seems to be of decent quality and is easy on the pocket, I want to shrink myself very badly. Are there any Singaporean blogshops out there that sell size 10-14 clothes?

And ladies, out of my sheer curiosity, what’s your size?

Jimmy Choo for H&M

Jimmy Choo for H&M will hit stores tomorrow, 14 November.

The collection felt like Serena van der Woodsen’s wardrobe – even the model looks like Blake Lively, if you refer to H&M’s website.

The shoe collection – mostly stilettos – is reasonably priced between US$99-149. Absolutely a great reason for shoe lovers to go binge-shopping. Sadly, the heels are beyond acceptable height for Miss Glitzy. The flats fail to wow, except for this pair of very unique reptile “preens” studded oxfords (US$149)!

jimmychoo3

Clothes and accessories wise, Miss Glitzy loves the collection for the glamourous and glitzy outfits – leather, tassles, faux fur and sequins! But at about US$129-249 for a dress, they seem a tad pricey.

So no, Miss Glitzy will not fly to Shanghai or Hong Kong or anywhere just to get a piece of affordable Choo.

For closeups of the collection, you could visit the gallery on Fabsugar.
